Christmas Light Installation in Riverstone, Star

Riverstone and the newer streets around Star have wide frontage and young trees, so roofline-only displays look thinner from the road than homeowners expect.

Lighting Riverstone homes

Star has grown faster than almost anywhere in Ada County, and the newer construction around Riverstone and State Street gives us plenty to work with: tall entries, big garages and wide frontage. The catch is that wide frontage swallows a single line of bulbs.

The fix is layering close to the ground. Wrapped entry columns, a large lit wreath on the front gable and two tree wraps in the front yard fill the space between the lawn and the roof. That is the difference between a display that reads from the road and one that disappears into a big dark elevation.

Trees in these newer streets are finally large enough to wrap without a lift on most lots, which makes them an affordable way to add that depth.

Toward the river and out past Pollard, properties get larger and darker, and we plan those the way we plan Eagle and Kuna acreage: zoned power, driveway markers and layered lighting on one controller.

What we install most in Riverstone

  • Front rooflines and long garage lines
  • Wrapped entry columns on tall two-story entries
  • Large gable wreaths sized to the elevation
  • Two or more front-yard tree wraps
  • Driveway markers and fence lines on larger parcels

Riverstone questions

Why does my roofline look thin from the street?
Wide frontage and a dark elevation. One line of bulbs twenty feet up has nothing around it. Adding columns, a gable wreath and two tree wraps fixes it.
Are my young trees big enough to wrap?
In most of these newer streets, yes — and trunk wraps on younger trees are one of the cheapest ways to add depth to a wide lot.
Do you go out past Star toward the river?
Yes. We run Star routes all season, including the larger parcels toward the river and the Pollard area.
