Star has grown faster than almost anywhere in Ada County, and the newer construction around Riverstone and State Street gives us plenty to work with: tall entries, big garages and wide frontage. The catch is that wide frontage swallows a single line of bulbs.
The fix is layering close to the ground. Wrapped entry columns, a large lit wreath on the front gable and two tree wraps in the front yard fill the space between the lawn and the roof. That is the difference between a display that reads from the road and one that disappears into a big dark elevation.
Trees in these newer streets are finally large enough to wrap without a lift on most lots, which makes them an affordable way to add that depth.
