Wrapped trunks, lit canopies and glowing shrub beds give the front of a house depth that a roofline alone cannot — especially on wide or flat lots.
A roofline draws the outline of your house. Trees and shrubs fill in everything between the house and the street, and on a wide Treasure Valley lot they are usually what turns a nice display into the one neighbors slow down for.
We wrap trunks and limbs by hand, spacing the wraps evenly so the tree reads as one continuous spiral rather than a series of bands. Shrub beds and hedges get netting or hand-laid strands depending on the plant.
Almost anything with a trunk or a defined shape works. What matters most is the height you want lit, since that drives both the material and the reach equipment.
Homes in Kuna, Star, Middleton and the rural edges of Nampa and Caldwell often sit on flat ground with a lot of horizontal space. Pushing more light up onto the house does very little there. Wrapping two or three trees and running a fence or driveway line does a great deal.
On acreage we usually start with the trees closest to the road, because those are what a passing car actually sees, and expand inward from there as budget allows.
Warm white trunk wraps under a warm white roofline is the safest, most classic pairing, and it is what most of our Eagle and North End customers choose. Color on trees against warm white on the house is the other combination that consistently looks intentional rather than busy.
