Lighting North End homes
Hanging Christmas lights in the North End is a different job than hanging them in a new subdivision, and pretending otherwise is how you end up with sagging lines and damaged trim. These are largely 1900s to 1940s homes: deep eaves, decorative brackets, dormers, and porches with real woodwork. The roofline is rarely a single clean run, so every strand gets measured and cut to the individual section it belongs to.
The porches are the opportunity here. A wrapped post, garland along the header and a lit wreath at the door do more for a Harrison Boulevard or 13th Street home than pushing extra light up onto the roof. We hang from tension and existing hardware rather than driving fasteners into century-old woodwork you cannot replace.
The other North End factor is the trees. Mature maples and oaks line most of these streets, and a wrapped trunk out front reads beautifully against a warm white roofline — but the canopies are tall and the lots are narrow, so access matters. We confirm reach during the walkthrough instead of guessing on install day.
Parking and street width are worth mentioning too, since they affect how we stage. We work off the street and driveway carefully in this neighborhood and keep the setup tight, which neighbors on these blocks generally appreciate.
