When to Book Christmas Light Installation in Boise
Book in September or early October. Installs run from late September through mid-December, and the best time slots are usually gone by early November.
Every year we get the same call in the second week of December: a homeowner in Boise or Meridian who meant to book in October, ran out of weekends, and now wants lights up before a party on Saturday. Sometimes we can help. Often the calendar is simply full.
Holiday lighting is a route business. Once a day is booked, it is booked — we cannot add hours to a December afternoon that gets dark at 5pm. Here is how the season actually runs so you can pick the right week to call.
How the season is scheduled
We start installing in late September. Nothing gets turned on that early — we hang and clip while the weather is dry and the ladders are safe, then set your timer so the display lights up when you want it to.
From there the calendar fills forward. October is our heaviest measuring and installing month. November is where most repeat customers land. By the first week of December we are usually running service calls and squeezing in the last few homes.
- Late September – October: best availability, dry weather, easiest scheduling
- November: still open, but weekends go first
- Early December: limited, weather-dependent, no guaranteed dates
- Mid-December on: service and repairs for existing customers
Why early booking gets you a better install
Booking early is not just about getting a slot. An October install day means dry shingles, no ice on the gutters, and time to walk the property with you before anything goes up. That is when we catch the details — a second-story peak worth lighting, a tree that would carry the whole front yard, a receptacle that needs a timer.
It also means your strands are measured and cut before the rush. Every strand we install is built to your rooflines, so an early measure gives us a calmer shop week and a cleaner line on your house.
What to have ready when you call
You do not need much. A couple of photos of the front of the house, a rough idea of how far you want the lights to go, and whether you are leaning warm white or multicolor is plenty to get a real quote started.
- Photos of the front and any side you want lit
- Whether you want roofline only, or trees and columns too
- Warm white or multicolor
- Any HOA rules you know about
- The date you want the lights on
If it is already December
Call anyway. Cancellations happen, weather shifts days around, and we would rather tell you honestly whether we can reach you than have you guess. If we cannot fit you in this season, we will put you at the front of next season's list, which starts booking in the spring.
Common questions
- How early is too early to book?
- There is no such thing. We take bookings year round and start installing in late September. Booking in the spring or summer simply means you pick your install week.
- Will my lights be on in September?
- Only if you want them to be. We set the timer to whatever date you choose — most customers pick Thanksgiving weekend.
- Can you still install if there is snow?
- Sometimes, but safety comes first. Ice on a roofline stops the job, which is one more reason early season dates are worth taking.
- Do repeat customers get priority?
- Yes. Returning customers are contacted first each season, before we open the remaining dates to new homes.
