The houses are often single-level or split, with shallow pitches — and the cottonwoods, willows and maples on these lots are enormous.
That balance is unusual, and it is why displays here look best when the trees lead. One or two large trunk wraps, a clean front roofline and a lit entry produce a warmer, fuller result than trying to force a big display onto a low roof.
River proximity means fog and freezing damp on more nights than the bench gets, so connections stay up off the ground and out of gutter water, and clips are chosen with ice load in mind.
Garden City is on our regular Boise route, so service calls are usually next-day, and in January everything comes down, gets labeled and goes into storage.
